Digitalizing the world (Creativity)

Recently I have been thinking about life's fallacy and how I can create art pieces from it. Unlike the manga that i have been drawing earlier, I decided to focus on something more digital based. What i thought of was digitalizing people's faces because even though people may say they are being themselves, their appearance may oly be a mere facade of their life and life's problems. So I though abotu digitalizing their faces and make them seem like masks that hide their emotions and life's problems.

Sports Day (Action)

Well, recently I took part in the OSC's Geck Sports Day playing volleyball, football and basketball. i challeneged myself into participating in sports that I have almost never played before, in positions i have never played in. Even though this resulted in many embarrassing moments, I felt it was worth it, for the expirienced I had gained and furthermore, the courage to go out and try new things in life. I had to collaborate with many other players the teams. As the team we had was a combination of 10,11 and 12th graders, I had to collaborate with people that I am not used to being with.

On the whole, i felt that the Sport's Day was enjoyable and interesting and is a memorable event for my last year at OSC.

Structuring the Idea - Gecko inc.

Now that we have a basic idea of what we have to do for our CAS, we are going to attempt in structuring it.
What do we need:
1) referee
2) scoring personnel
3)Players
4) Funds

A referee would probably cost Rs. 1000 per game and since we have two courts that would be around Rs. 2000 per hour, so around Rs. 4000 per session.

Question: where do we get the money from?
Option A: make players pay a small Rs.50 fee
Option B: Dig into OSC funds
Option C: Drinks for the players

Option B would be irrelevant, so we are down to two options. The player fee and the drinks. We have not discussed the Drink stall yet, so I'll save that for later. If there is a Rs. 50 player fee, at least 80 players would have to come play. Thats around 8 teams. 40 people per court. Which is definitely too much for our gym to accommodate. So it we raise it to a Rs. 100 we would need 40 players, and with the drink stall bringing an amount, it would be sufficient.

Then comes to the next issue...
Where are we going to get the players from?
To accomplish this we are going to need someone to publicize for us. Facebook. Posters in schools. etc... This would contribute to my CREATIVITY section.

For the scoring panel, there would be at least two people from our CAS to score every saturday.

Gecko Inc.

For the past two sessions of Service, I have participated in Gecko Inc. This is a new service that had been brought up by our PE director Mr Shipley and is still in the course of taking form.
As we are initiating a NEW type of service, I have to work collaboratively with the other team members for this process to be successful, furthermore, i have to help in initiating the Service activity.
So far we have come up with a few ideas for what this service is meant to do, however our MAIN initiative is to enhance Athleticism in our school.
1) Publicity for SAISA sports
2)Hospitality for outside schools
3) Products for our Gecko Athletes
4) Something to help the Community
5) Teaching the Primary Kids how to play certain sports and introduce them to some

Originally, I did support the 5th option of helping the Primary children, however, we have to weigh out our options  it would be extremely difficult to control little toddlers running around in circles with limited parent supervision. Also, we have to host it on a separate date since most of our athletic facilities is already in use most of the time.

During our second session, this my preference had changed. I thought we should try to enhance OSC and other communities connections through our CAS. That was when i remembered about Community basketball last year. I did use it for Action, however, there was a problem as there was no one to initiate the games and organize anything. So, I thought, there are already people who are willing to come on Saturdays to play basketball... There is very little opportunity to find a good basketball court in Colombo for the Community to use, so why not revive the programme there was before?

As a basketball FANATIC, I thought we should help the basketball community in colombo to play the sport they love in a safe, controlled environment. Seems like a good service to me.
