SGA 

Student Government Association. Grade 12 representative

Another year of SGA which is, as always,  a challenge that i have to undertake this year. I have to work collaboratively with the other members of the SGA. Being a member of the SGA, we have to plan many social events year round, to make the school more lively. To do this we must plan and initiate activities and persevere and be commited to our duties, even though Grade 12 is a year that I am supposed to be completely committed to my studies. I have to be balanced with the many other activities i have to do with CAS as well as my studying for Grade 12. To do this i must develop and maintain organizational skills which are essential for the upcoming year. 

MUN

MUN contributes into my knowledge of global issues, organizational skills, commitment and initiation of Activities.
This year I am aiming to become a member of the Executive Committee of COMUN 2012, I will have to work more diligently as a member of OSC's MUN team.

Music Makers

Before the summer, I took part in the Music Makers concert, to raise awareness of the musical talent at OSC. Furthermore the funds will be contributed to buying instruments for the  school. Thus, it acts both as a Service and a Creativity.

Being an Unpaid journalist

During the summer, I did an internship for a State-ownded paper called, "The Daily News". For the month, I worked there, I had gained many useful skills for beign a reporter as well as being an IB learner. While workign for the Daily news, I did many investigations on social aspects of Sri Lankan life, and had written articles for "The Gender Forum", "Teenage Trauma", "Political", "artscope" and "Opinions" pages for the newspaper.

Objectives i have achieved:
Undertaking New challenges
being a journalist is my life's goal however, i have never worked for a state-owned paper before. There were many new challenges such as, being intorduced into a working environment and organizing my time to the amount of assignments i have.

Global Awareness
During my voluntary work, i had to understand and be aware of Global issues to write an objective paper. i had to write articles on different news stories nation wide.
